The Hacienda del Alamo Golf Resort stands out as a true gem in the village of Fuente Alamo, Murcia.
Already boasting a beautiful, yet challenging, 18-hole championship golf course lauded by Spanish star Miguel Jimenéz as the new number one in Spain and some 500 luxurious homes and villas which have been built and sold, the Hacienda resort developed by Armilar-Procam is only just starting life on route to what will doubtless be a glittering future.
Two more championship-standard golf courses will be added to the original creation in the next five years, all designed by top course architect Dave Thomas and his son Paul, the saleable luxury homes and villas will number 3,500, a five-star hotel will be built, and the state-of-the-art golf complex and golf academy will be the talk of the golf circuit worldwide.
Yet arguably the jewel in Haciendas ever-more-polished crown will be the planned Mediterranean village in the shape of a residential centre complete with pedestrian areas, swish squares, 47 shops and 160 houses.
Golf, villas, shops and hotels will be on tap, while the village of Fuente Alamo lies a tempting 25 minutes drive from the sea, 30 minutes from Murcia airport, and less than an hour by road from the cities of Murcia and Cartegena.
The complex has 350,000 square metres of bushes, the existing trees have been maintained and new olive trees, carob trees and almond trees have been planted.
Another positive action has been managing the environment of habitats and species. The goal was to create a suitable environment for local birds so that they can come back to their homes once the heavy machinery used for urbanisation has left the site.
